It has already been quite a season for Glasgow-based Jim Goldie, who is basking in the upper echelons of this year's trainer's table.

With over 20 wins on the board the Scot is not far off last season's best total of 28 and he recently landed a bumper pay-out when his Orientor was the impressive winner of a £50,000 race at Ascot.

Indian Spark, who contributed to that tally when winning the Gosforth Park Cup at Newcastle last month and was previously placed at Royal Ascot looks sure to go well in the Diversey Lever Conditions Stakes over five furlongs at Nottingham this afternoon.

Five furlongs looks to be the gelding's best trip and so he can be excused a disappointing effort last time when well beaten over an extra quarter mile.

He has a good chance at the weights in this admittedly competitive affair and he is one of the ones who will not be inconvenienced by the forecast rain. Goldie's Mairi's Wedding is an unknown quantity on an easy surface but is well worth an interest, even if the rains arrive, now she is stepped up to the six furlongs of the Colwick Park Nursery.

The filly came home strongly in a fair race of its type at Musselburgh last time and that form has already been given a boost when third placed Secret Spoof came out and won a nursery at Redcar. Goldie has Granite City in the Racing's Free For Children Handicap over a mile and a quarter but the gelding has shown his best form at Musselburgh on a sound surface. So the selection, and indeed the bet of the day looks to be Annadawi, who has looked as though he has been coming to hand of late and he will relish any of the forecast rain.

At Hamilton last week he was far from disgraced behind one progressive and one consistent sort and he is now back on a mark from which he makes plenty of appeal, especially given that his main rivals look fully exposed.

Henry Cecil hasn't has much to shout about by his own high standards this year but he can be on the mark with Sparkling Water in the mile novice stakes and with Harry Jake in division two of the six furlong maiden.

Sparkling Water, a Derby entry, won impressively at Beverley recently and is capable of considerably better. He can put his experience to good use against three well-bred newcomers.

Harry Jake shaped with considerable promise on his debut over seven furlongs at Doncaster, where he also gave the impression that the step back to this trip would be in his favour.

John Dunlop's Caqui d'Or hasn't run for a couple of months but looks to hold sound claims in the Woodstock Handicap over a mile and six furlongs.

This progressive sort won over a mile and a half at Beverley before finishing second at Ripon and the form of both those races has been boosted. This step up in trip should suit and he will be hard to beat.
