THANKS to the help of specialist recruitment consultants Contract Construction Services, PETER PHAZEY, 57, is working as an assistant construction manager for Consort Health Care.

Consort is currently responsible for constructing the New University Hospital of North Durham, in Durham City.

Peter secured his contract on the £97m project after signing up with the Durham-based recruitment company.

He said: "I have more than 30 years experience, but I needed some assistance in tapping into opportunities in the local construction industry and demonstrating my skills to potential employers.

"Tony Carr, my consultant at Contract Construction, created a professional record of my career and then worked to find jobs that matched my skills and experience."

On a day-to-day basis Peter works with Consort Health Care construction manager Peter Wake to ensure work on the new hospital is carried out effectively and to a high standard.

* KEITH WALKER, 45, is the new managing director at GSPK Electronics, in Knaresborough. Mr Walker has more than 20 years experience in business management. He was previously with Silver Screen Windscreens plc, where he was responsible for doubling its value to £8m within four years, resulting in its successful sale to Kwik Fit.

lTeesside accountancy firm, Keith Robinson and Co, has a new face meeting and greeting visitors to its Middlesborough office. She is LISA MARSAY, who has been appointed to take care of the busy reception area. It is her first job following a private secretary diploma course at Redcar and Cleveland College.

Insurance brokers and financial advisors BIB (Darlington) has appointed CHRIS SANDERS to its expanding team. He joins the company as an independent financial advisor and will work with a wide selection of the firm's clients across the region. Chris has previously worked for Blackett Hart and Pratto in Darlington, and in private practice in the Darlington area.

JANET TUCKER is the new customer relations manager at Consett-based Explorer Group. She joins the group with 17 years of experience in customer services in the public and private sectors. Her previous job was as a team manager for the Benefits Agency Winter Fuel Helpline.

Following the acquisition of Beazer Group plc, Persimmon has appointed its new regional chairmen. Under the newly-expanded organisation, DAVID BROADBENT, CHRIS JONSON, DAVID PERRIE, DAVID THORNTON, and RICHARD WRIGHT take up the reins in Persimmon's Northern, Yorkshire, Scotland, Western and Central regions respectively, while incumbent DAVID BRYANT remains as regional chairman for the Southern region. The regional chairmen are responsible for achieving regional targets and for the continued growth of their regions through the startegic acquisition of both land and other businesses in their areas.

VIVIENNE ASTBURY, 26, from Redcar, has returned to the region after two years in the South to take up a new role with Teesside-based development company, Terrace Hill. In her new role she will be responsible for providing secretrarial, administartive and marketing support. Terrace Hill is the lead developer at Teesdale Business Park, in Teesside.
