DRIVERS are facing higher tolls to use the Tyne Tunnel.
The tolls, effective from Tuesday, will be £1 for cars, up from 80p, and £1.20 for lorries, previously £1. The motorcycle toll remains at 20p. The increases follow an inquiry into toll prices in April, which found that the price hikes were justified. Tyne Tunnel manager Peter Hedley wished drivers to know in advance so they can have correct change ready
