STEVE Hislop, leader of the hotly-contested British Superbike Championship, heads for the region next week to take part in a chat show organised by the North Yorkshire Road Racing Supporters Club.

The ultra-popular Scot will be meeting fans and signing autographs at Elders Bar in Northallerton on Tuesday evening following round nine of the championship, which takes place at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire over the bank holiday weekend.

Hislop - or Hizzy to his legion of fans - overcame a broken neck towards the end of last year to lead the British championship this season aboard his MonsterMob Ducati.

He is locked in a titanic battle with fellow Ducati rider John Reynolds, which has seen record crowds flock to the circuits as well as enthralling millions of TV viewers.

The 11 times TT winner and twice British champion last visited NYRRSC ten years ago and he has promised to bring along some memorabilia to auction off. There will also be a raffle and a chance for fans to ask Hislop questions in the open forum.

Admission to the show is just £5 for adults and £1 for children. Doors open at 7.30 and more details can be obtained from Sue Symons on 01904 339647.
