Darlington overcame arch rivals Hartlepool United 2-1 at Victoria Park on Saturday.
Quakers striker Danny Mellanby grabbed his side the winner three minutes before half-time despite heavy pressure from the hosts in the second half.
Midfielder Mark Tinkler had earlier given Pool the lead when he headed in a Paul Stephenson corner after quarter of an hour.
Brian Atkinson levelled matters on 36 minutes before Mellanby hit the second.
