COUNDON Forrester bounced back in style from their defeat by The Speedwell last week by comprehensively beating Brinkburn 6-1.

However, that result was in stark contrast from The Speedwell, who went down 3-2 to The Northern Echo, in one of the shock score-lines of the day.

The Forrester's victory was made even sweeter by the failure of Spraire to take all three points from struggling Hoppers Transport, although Spraire do still remain top of the league with a 3-3 draw. Graham Dodsworth starred and. Richard Harrison and Fred Hall notched for Spraire, whilst Mike Smith, Darren Shooter and Ian Thompson were Hoppers' goal-scorers.

In the first division's other games, Nestfield Club beat fellow promoted side Green Dragon 5-4, whilst Newton Aycliffe Sports Club maintained their rich vein of form with a 4-2 victory over East End WMC.

Meanwhile, Darren Tate led the Springfield to a 6-3 victory over an under-strength Team Scania side that could only field ten-men.

Tate bagged four goals. Ken Stewart and Phillip Sheridan also got on the score-sheet. Team Scania's goal-scorers were Steve Appleby and Andy Kelly (2).

An uncharacteristic slip-up from the Allstars in Division Two saw them lose their 100 per cent record as they lost 2-0 to an erratic Shuttle & Loom side.

Jack Horners took full advantage of that slip, however, as they took all three points from their game against Sadberge with a 4-3 win. Richard Tutty gave Jacks the lead after a fine run from the right-back position, and Richard Miller made it two.

However, after 300 minutes without conceding, Mark Grant became the

first man to break the Jack's defence this season. Sadberge's Liam Lyndsey levelled matters before Paul Wilkinson gave them the lead. Jack's James Cosgrove and Tutty hit more.

Elsewhere, Copper Beech DCS weathered an early storm against Northern Spirit to run out 4-0 victors, thanks to goals from Graham Scott, Jeff Coates, Neil Murphick and Paul McGhee.

Smith & Allan also continue to struggle as they lost 16-1 to a Hurworth Albion side that move above Allstars and Jack Horners.

The Greyhound remain pointless as they lost 3-1 to The Derby. Dale Jardine hit the target twice for Derby, with Matthew Gowland notching the other. Simon Broughton grabbed the Greyhound's solitary goal.

AFC Orange continued their winning start to the season, although they had a little stutter before beating struggling Falchion 3-2 in the Third Division.

Orange took the lead as Chris Wardell slotted the ball home.

However, Falchion soon drew level as Richie Young notched from the spot. Dave Ripley then gave them the lead. However, Orange's Danny Ofosu lashed the ball home and then he added another.

Meanwhile, in a fiercely contested derby Yates's Wine Lodge had the upper hand against Pizza Perfekt.

However, it was the Pizza boys that started stronger, as Liam

Coleman's well-taken goal gave them an early lead. Chris Chadwick brought the Lodgers level, and then David Aitken bagged a brace. The game looked all over at that point, put Perfekt player manager Mark Wardell set-up a goal for Ian Caygill to narrow the margin. But Yates's stuck to their game plan and Stuart Bell made it four.

Mark Moran hit a late goal for the Pizza boys, but it was too little too late, as Yates's ran out 4-3 victors.

Canney Hill kept up their fine run as they beat Biglins News 4-1, and Faverdale beat Hogans 9-2.

Aaron Radstock hit five in that game, with Terry Jenkinson, Carl Jenkinson, Kevin Wake and Gary Fenwick bagging Faverdale's others. Hogans scorers were Stuart Grainger and Dean Tomp.

In the only other game of the day, Nestfield Seconds and Newton Cap shared the spoils as they drew 3-3.

l Durham FA are looking for more people to train to become qualified officials.

A training course is starting soon, and details can be acquired from either league secretary Ken Moore on (01325) 240057, or George Cornforth on (01325) 281359.

Darlington and

District League

EAST END WMC move to the top of the table, albeit on goal difference, with a 5-1 win at pointless Grey Horse, for whom Dave Palmer scored for the third successive game.

At Croft, Killinghall Arms utilised the wind to score three times in their encounter with Archdeacon, but Deacon pegged them back with goals from Anth Thorns and a superb 30-yarder from Neil Blewitt.

Thorns equalised and it took a goalline clearance from Ted Halstead to keep things the same.

Killies scorers were Neil Matthias (2) and man of the match Danny Fleary.

David Wilson enjoyed his day out at the expense of DRSM SC as he notched five of Greyhound's seven without reply. Kevin Myers and sub Eric Webster completed the scoring.

DGSOB put up a much better display than of late despite losing 4-1 to league champions Newton Aycliffe. Gareth Boyes, David Hannan, James Miller and Michael Molloy scored for the winners. Tom Marshall replied.

RA Social lost their 100 per cent record and dropped down to third as they drew 3-3 at home to the Albion.

The home side were indebted to goalkeeper James Briggs who defied Albion's late rally. Barry Foster (2) and Mike Iveston were scorers for RA, Steve Stephenson, Gavin Bell and sub Darren Karis replied.

A very competitive game between Post Boy and Speedy Hire saw the former recording a 2-1 win.

Howden Australian went down narrowly 6-5 in their Durham Minor Cup tie at Darlington Rothmans.

The Australian could not do enough to win. Gavin Lee, John Dent, Kevin Burke, Andrew Morgan and Phil Currah scored for the visitors.

Crook and

District League

AFTER losing their opening four league games Crook White Swan gained their first victory with a 3-2 success at home to Bishop Rugby Club. Darren Deuchars (2) and Chris Pounder scored the goals for the Swan with Matthew Tyrie and Alan Jones replying.

The top match between Willington Cottles and Crook Wanderers, last seasons champions and runners up, produced few chances.

The only goal came from Cottles' Wayne Fleming late on. After opening with two wins, Wanderers have now lost their last two league games.

Leaders Stanhope Town took the lead against Byers Green St Peters in the Albert Vickers Cup yet ended losing 7-2. After drawing level by half time Byers Green had an excellent second half. Kevin Dodds scored four, Chris Pickles (2) and Shaun Nicholson found the net. Darren Fletcher notched both Stanhope goals.

Tow Law Cattle Mart took the lead in an all Crook League clash with West Auckland Earl of Warwick, but it was the latter who came back to win 4-2. Goals from Robert Wringe, Anthony Bailes, Jeff Cranston and Wayne Carr handed Auckland victory. Malcolm Umpleby and Brian Graham scored for the Mart
