POLICE and fire crews were called after a stolen car was crashed into a lamppost.
The emergency services were alerted following the incident at about 10pm on Wednesday.
When they arrived, they found a white Volkswagen Polo crashed into a lamp post at the junction of Loxley Road and Birkhall Road, in Thorntree, Middlesbrough, but no driver.
Checks later confirmed the vehicle had been stolen.
A police spokeswoman said: "The driver had obviously fled from the scene by the time officers got there. No one has been arrested."
