AN 85-year-old woman had her purse stolen after a man barged into her house offering to sharpen her knives.
A scruffy-looking man, in his 20s, walked into the pensioner's house, in Reynolds Close, Stanley, after she left a back door unlocked.
The trickster was described as in his 20s, of slim build, 5ft 5in, with short, straggly hair and a dirty appearance.
