A CLEVELAND breeder fascinated by miniature horses has qualified two for next week's Horse of the Year Show.

Mrs Jill Robinson from New Close Farm, Norton, will stand out at the Wembley event when she unloads the scaled down show horses alongside her large riding horse, Sirens Song.

She is the six-year-old daughter of the amateur breeder's very successful small riding horse, Loreley, and qualified at the BSPS championship show at Peterborough - only her third outing this year.

The lack of shows was due to her owner's new venture, which started when she went to Florida last summer to visit American miniature horses on their stud farms. The family were so impressed they imported two, who are already British champions.

Cascades Magic Charm is a silver dapple stallion measuring 29 inches. He has taken four championships this year, including reserve in the international champion of champions at the British Miniature Horse Society breed show.

Cascades Top Cats Miss Kitty is a two-year-old buckskin filly measuring 31 inches. She was champion at her first show.

They also have Hermits Whisper, a yearling filly bought as a foal, who won championships for confirmation and colour.

Mrs Robinson said: "All our show team have been graded Elite by the international Miniature Horse and Pony Society and have now qualified for Wembley."

At the weekend the Robinsons travelled for the first time to the European Miniature Horse Championships in Belgium. All three of her entrants were highly successful, with wins in the junior mare, junior stallion and pinto classes.

The aim now is to breed future show champions - both large and small - and next year's foals are eagerly awaited
