Easington's Andy Wilson had a day to remember on Saturday at Norton.

Wilson, signed last week from Wearside League club Boldon CA, scored the winner for his new club to give his side the three points at Station Road.

Easington secretary Alan Purvis said: "Andy scored with his first touch - then he was injured with his second and had to receive treatment!"

Easington have started the season well after relegation from the top division last year, Purvis said: "We've brought in a lot of new players, and it's taken them time to settle."

Crook Town have signed the former Newcastle centre half Kevin Scott.

Scott was transferred from Newcastle to Spurs for close on £1 million when he rejoined former Newcastle boss Ossie Ardiles at White Hart Lane, but he never really held down a first team place, and he moved on to Norwich City.

However, he suffered a bad knee injury there, and a brief spell at Darlington three years ago confirmed that he would be unable to carry on playing in the Football League.

He quit the pro game, and joined Guisborough Town, but he couldn't play regularly because of work commitments.

But now Crook manager Ronan Liddane has persuaded him to start playing again.

Crook secretary Alan Stewart said: "He's a good signing for us. He won't be able to play for a couple of weeks because of work commitments and he has to work on his fitness, but he'll add plenty of experience to the side."

Crook are going well in the league, although they have been knocked out of the FA Cup and FA Vase in the last week.

Durham City have signed the former Newcastle and Darlington player Stuart Elliott.

The midfielder played in the Football League less than two weeks ago for Carlisle United, but was then suddenly freed by boss Roddy Collins when he was hoping for another contract.

City boss Brian Honour signed him in time for Tuesday's home game with Brandon, and said: "He will give us a little bit of steel in the middle of the park, and we're now crossing our fingers and hoping that he'll want to play in the FA Cup against Lancaster City."

Tow Law's injury crisis has taken on a new twist.

Manager Graeme Forster has had difficulties choosing his team in recent weeks because of a spate of injuries, but he had a new shock on Tuesday night before the game against Bedlington.

"There have been times when I've been struggling to have enough substitutes recently, but on Tuesday, our physio, Jake Ferguson, turned up on crutches!"

The dates have been set for the preliminary round of the Albany Durham Challenge Cup next week.

Jarrow Roofing reached the next stage of the FA Carlsberg Vase after they beat Washington 6-2 in their replay. Washington were 2-0 up.

Whitley Bay stay top after they came from behind to beat Consett at Hillheads.

Consett had to reshuffle before the game when James Platten suffered a hand injury, so Michael Johnson deputised at the last moment, and it was a bad start for the replacement keeper when Rob Livermore beat him from the edge of the box after just two minutes.

Jeff Sugden scored the equaliser, and then Whitley keeper John Caffrey dropped a corner at the feet of Chris Hodgson to concede the second Kevin Walton levelled from 20 yards after 28 minutes, but Hodgson struck again from a rebound just before half time.

Walton crossed for David Carr to head the equaliser, and then Ian Chandler's shot was parried, and Livermore scored from the rebound.

Brandon United pulled off a shock by winning at Durham City. Scorers were Mark Patterson and David Ross.

Billingham Synthonia are hard on Whitley's heels after they thrashed West Auckland 6-1.

Tow Law drew 1-1 with Bedlington.

After an even first half, Bedlington took the lead when Anthony Chapman opened up the defence and squared the ball for John Milner to sidefoot home, but Tow Law levelled near the end when Marc Eccles was brought down inside the area, and he scored from the spot.

Dunston had to come back from 3-1 down with ten minutes left to draw 3-3 at Ashington.

In the second division, Penrith kept hold of top spot with a 1-0 win at Evenwood on Tuesday night, while Prudhoe thrashed Murton 6-0.

On Wednesday night, Shildon kept their 100 per cent record intact with an amazing 6-4 win at Kennek Ryhope CA, when nine goals were scored in the second half.

Ryhope led at half time through David Crosby, but Shildon hit back with goals from Charlie Walton and Gary McDonald.

Ryhope battled back through Simon Andrews, Stuart Wormleighton and John Curtis to lead 4-2 by the 69th minute.

But Shildon sub John Outhwaite turned the game. Within two minutes of coming on, he pulled a goal back, and Nigel Bolton levelled after 83 minutes.

Brian Fairhurst put them in front after 89 minutes, and after Craig Peel hit the bar for Ryhope, Shildon went down the other end and scored their sixth through Outhwaite.

Easington also scored six, at Hebburn.

They were 5-0 up by half time with goals from Tony Hanson (2), Lee Dixon, Dominic Rice and Stephen Salvin, with Rice scoring the goal of the game when he dribbled through for the sixth after 75 minutes. Tony Robinson scored a consolation from the penalty spot.

Crook lost 4-1 at home to Washington Nissan, after Andy Burgess gave them the lead after just five minutes.

Peterlee won at Esh Winning in the league cup thanks to a Lee Crosby header in the first half
