PEOPLE with special needs are to benefit from a £1,000 Abbey National bank gift.
Outreach worker Margaret Worsnop and clerical officer June Bell, from Spennymoor Learning Library, were presented with a cheque by the manager of Abbey National's Bishop Auckland branch, Lynn Brennen, yesterday.
The money will be used to help meet the running costs of the learning library, which is based at North Street, Spennymoor.
It provides toys and other equipment for children and adults with special needs in the Wear Valley, Weardale, Teesdale and the Sedgefield borough.
Mrs Worsnop said: "We are very pleased with the donation. It will help us with running costs including visiting our members and giving them a choice of equipment to help them develop.''
Mrs Brennen said the money had come from the Abbey National Charitable Trust, adding: "I hope our support will encourage other local companies to help.'
