POLICE are continuing to follow up leads from the public in the hope of catching the person responsible for a series of chilling letters and phone calls.
Over a two-year period the man, known only as Soldier David, has waged a hate campaign against stores in the Thornaby, Teesside area.
He has threatened to murder shop-workers, described children as the "spawn of Satan" and threatened another Dunblane-type massacre.
Officers from Cleveland Police, who are investigating the letters and telephone calls, are planning to visit a number of people whose names have been put forward following an appeal by police on Monday.
A spokesperson from Cleveland Police said: "We have had a very good response from the public following our appeal. Some people have given the same name on a number of occasions.
"Police will visit these people to ask them to volunteer fingerprints and DNA for forensic testing."
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on (01642) 302816 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
