A TEENAGER died and three other people were injured in a head-on collision on a country road.
James Patrick Woodworth, a 17-year-old from Newby Wiske, near Northallerton, North Yorkshire, was killed when the red Escort in which he was travelling collided with a Toyota Yaris.
He was the front-seat passenger in the Escort, which was driven by 17-year-old Timothy Ryan, of Primrose Drive, Ripon, who suffered slight injuries.
Rear-seat passenger Sarah Dalton, a 15-year-old from Whitcliffe Crescent, Ripon, was taken to the Friarage Hospital, in Northallerton, with serious injuries and was in intensive care last night.
The driver of the Toyota, 50-year-old John Greenwood, of Littlethorpe, Ripon, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Friarage, where he was also in intensive care.
The accident happened at about 6.40pm on Tuesday, on the A167 Northallerton to Topcliffe Road, between the Busby Stoop roundabout and the village of Sandhutton.
