A MAN has appeared in court accused of leading a two-year hate campaign in which letters, signed Soldier David, were sent to a number of North-East stores.
Former housing officer Ian Walker, 45, of Sherwood Road, Thornaby, Teesside appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court charged with causing a public nuisance by sending threatening mail and making threatening phone calls between December 1999 and October 2001.
Walker also faces a charge of making a threat to kill a member of staff at a local convenience store on August 17 this year.
The case was adjourned until November 2 and Walker was remanded in custody.
