A patient of an osteopath accused of indecently assaulting eight patients today told a jury she felt "totally humiliated" after he touched her breasts during a consultation.

Terence McBrien, 48, of Stott Street, Alnwick, Northumberland, denies 13 charges of indecent assault allegedly committed over two years from September 1998.

A former supermarket worker today told the jury she went for treatment at McBrien's practice following a car accident in 1997.

She was happy with the first two consultations, she said.

But on the third he undid her bra without asking, she told a jury at Newcastle Crown Court.

During the fourth examination McBrien cupped and squeezed her breasts as she lay exposed on his couch, which left her feeling very distressed, she said.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, wept as she told the jury: "I felt very upset and totally humiliated."

She did not say anything at the time, she said, adding: "I was confused that it was actually happening.

"I expected that he was a professional man and if that was a necessary part of the treatment, he would have asked me first."

The woman said that after that she never returned to McBrien's practice for treatment, adding: "I felt he totally abused my trust, I felt he acted very unprofessionally.

"I didn't think he was the sort of person I would ever want to be involved with again."
