CHAMPION jockey Kevin Darley was presented with a special Waterford crystal trophy at Redcar Races yesterday on Tuesday for being the top jockey in Yorkshire this season.
He said he was really pleased with the award and was enjoying basking in the sunshine at Redcar's penultimate meeting of the season.
"I went in to this season aware of all the different changes with jockeys and new contracts. I have ridden 56 winners in Yorkshire this season and it is great to get something like this as it eggs the jockeys on and it is an achievement."
Tim Easterby, who wasn't present, also receives a trophy for the top trainer.
