ONE of Darlington's most successful businesses has moved into new offices to cope with the growing demand worldwide for its products.

The Barcode Solution Centre, which helps businesses to automate and streamline their manufacturing and distribution processes, has secured major contracts in Holland, Denmark, France and Belgium.

It has also signed a deal with Coloplast, a medical equipment manufacturer based in Denmark, which has factories in Asia, the Middle East and the US.

The centre, which was established in 1994, has a turnover in excess of £3m, and employs 22 staff. The company services a wide range of clients, including Dyson, RHM, Iceland.co.uk and Courtaulds.

Tyne Tees Television presenter Pam Royle and Peter Barron, editor of The Northern Echo, were on hand to officially open the offices, in Lingfield House, which is part of the Lingfield Point development.

The 1.6 million sq ft site at Lingfield Point covers 125 acres and offers cost-effective and flexible industrial buildings, warehousing and modern office space.

It was acquired by Lingfield Investments Ltd in 1998, and substantial investment is being made to upgrade the complex.

The centre's managing director, Kevin McDaid, said: "These great new facilities at Lingfield Point will give us the option for further expansion of the business without the need to move premises."

Eddie Humphries, estates manager at Lingfield Point, said: "We are very pleased to welcome Barcode Solution Centre to Lingfield House. We have created an ideal working environment within Lingfield House, with modern well-appointed offices, and we wish the whole team at Barcode a very long and successful future.
