IMAGES of life in rural North Yorkshire over the past 60 years go on sale this week.
North Yorkshire County Council libraries service photographer Mr Richard Jemmison has recreated some of the best-known works by dales photographer Mr Bertram Unn.
Mr Unn started work for the Dalesman magazine in 1940 and he recorded life in the market towns, dales and moors of the county for more than 30 years.
In 1979, he sold his entire photographic collection of more than 19,000 prints to the county council.
The council has taken 12 of his finest shots and Mr Jemmison has recreated the exact pictures as the scenes look today. The results have been published in a calendar that includes shots of Northallerton, Richmond, Thirsk and Bainbridge, near Hawes.
The calendar, priced £5, is available from libraries across North Yorkshire or can be ordered from county library headquarters, 21 Grammar School Lane, Northallerton DL6 1DF
