If Grammar School Old Boys were successful in their first round Auckland Charity Cup tie they faced a trip to Cockfield in the next round. Clearly not relishing this prospect they succumbed to Black and Decker by 10-0.

There was better news of the league's representative in the Stockton Charity Cup where RA Social visited Billingham Town Reserves.

Andrew Wetherall put RA ahead direct from a corner, but having missed several good chances they found themselves 2-1 down with only two minutes left on the clock courtesy of a penalty and an own goal.

However, up popped Gavin Rose with the equaliser and with no further goals in extra time RA took the penalty shoot out 4-3 to progress to the semi-finals.

The league programme saw some heavy defeats with Grey Horse unable to build on last week's win as they lost 10-2 to the new leaders Post Boy.

David Dresser and Andrew Lewis were their scorers.

An injury-hit Greyhounds had to field an ageing back four but to their credit only found themselves two down at the interval.

However, relentless East End pressure in their second half saw the deficit increase to eight without reply.

Mark Maddison and Phil Basnett with two apiece, Roy and Darren Winter, John Banks and Jason Jackson were East End scorers.

In a hard-fought encounter both Rothmans and Killinghall Arms failed to take their chances until Neil Matthias's scuffed effort managed to find the net to put Killie ahead.

Andy Roberts increased the lead and it was not until the dying minutes that Michael Bland pulled one back with a wonder goal to set up a tense finish in which Rothmans were unable to get an equaliser.

In another even contest where the pitch played a big part, Shuttle and Loom took full advantage of the conditions to lead Archdeacon 2-0 at the interval with a brace from Chris Airey.

The Deacon were not, however, fazed and taking advantage of their turn with the elements drew level within ten minutes of the restart when Michael Thraves headed home a Scott McAlister cross and McAlister scored from 12 yards.

The wind also dominated proceedings between Speedy Hire and DSRM SC and Speedy led 3-0 at the break.

They added a fourth after the turn around, but a double substitution saw David Raine and sub Joe Stainthorpe pull two back, but DSRM SC could make no further inroads into Speedy's lead whose scorers were Nigel Gamblin (2), man of the match Alan Gowling and Aaron Radestock.

Newton Aycliffe with 40 registered players struggled to field a side against Albion and it was no surprise when having managed to keep the score to one they conceded four more in a 10-minute spell before half-time. Albion restricted themselves to a further four in the second half to run out 9-0 winners.

Gavin Bell rediscovered his early season scoring form to notch four as did Stuart Cottam and man of the match Daren Kacis completed the scoring
