STUDENTS will be encouraged to make a drama out of their future careers next week.

Theatre company Cragrats is appearing at a careers fair on Thursday night to present a 40-minute play to students of Sunnydale School, Shildon, about opportunities open to school leavers.

This will be aimed at Year 9 pupils who will soon be considering their GCSE options and Year 11 students, as well as their parents.

Afterwards, parents can meet a range of organisations involved in the education and training of over-16s.

The school's head of careers, Ian Jerred, said: "I'm sure they will find it reassuring that there are so many good opportunities for our young people and hope as many as possible will be present.

"It is important they are aware of what is on offer before making decisions crucial to their future."

The careers fair is from 7pm to 9pm
