In the Premier League, Billingham Wanderers travelled to to play Seaton Delaval and with a strong wing against them had a lot of possession without troubling the home keeper with man of the match Charlie Bell prominent in midfield.

In the second half non-stop pressure lead to numerous chances but Seaton Delaval held firm, and shared the points with Billingham disappointed not to convert possession into goals. Steve Bates played well in defence for Billingham who remain on top of the Premier on goal difference.

Tomorrow Billingham entertain Usworth from Washington at Norton (0.30am) and hope to have Mick Omoni making his debut, and welcome back Andy Harbron and Wayne Larsen from work commitments.

In Division One, Mrs Flints Pirates are clear top. They won 3-0 away to British Telecom. Lacking the services of Alan Gates and John Murray they found it hard to breakdown Telecom's resolute defence and it was only in the last ten minutes that the goals came. Jock Gibson grabbing a brace and Joe Currie one, Gordon Bennett starred.

Langley Park Rams Head won their second game of the season defeating Sedgefield 2-1 at home. The Rams were 1-0 down at 12 minutes but fought back strongly and drew level close on the break when Mark Coutes scored with a 30 yard rocket. The restart saw the Rams with the wind behind them piling on the pressure and they went 2-1 up when Alan Ray Bradwell pulled off several special saves to deny them.

In Division Two Barnard Castle Glaxo lost 3-0 at home to Cleveland Bridge. They trailed after a first half penalty then fell further behind after the restart and went 3-0 down ten minutes from time. Dave Harris was outstanding for the Darlington side.

Newton Aycliffe drew 1-1 at Hartlepool Catholic Club to remain in second place. Aycliffe took the lead after 30 minutes when Robin Kell rocketed home a cross from Colin Smith just outside the box. The restart saw end-to-end football and both sides went close before Allen Smith headed home a Micky Henderson corner to level the scores. Outstanding players were Smith, Murphy and Bob Ramsay for Pools and Geoff Leaden for Aycliffe.

West Cornforth lost 4-2 at home to Hylton Castle. Trailing 2-0 at the interval, they pulled one back when David Nattrass slotted home a spot kick. They pushed forward for the equaliser but were caught out through a breakaway 3-1 down. Geoff Murphy then made it 3-2 and the same move caught them out 4-2.

Wynyard Veterans played magnificently but lost 3-2 at home to leaders Consett. Ray Evans put them ahead but Consett stormed back and led 3-1 at half time. Mo Najah made it 3-2 and then hit the bar. It was all Wynyard but the equaliser just wouldn't come. Baldison and Les Clark starred.

In Division Four, Billingham Town lost 7-3 at Darlington Railway. The first half belonged to Billingham who at one period led 2-0 courtesy of a brace from Colin Russell. The second was Darlington's each side having the advantage of the wind and decided slope. In fairness Billingham had a re-organised side with four players off (injured and work commitments) and played well until they tired. Their keeper Mick Walkington then literally saved them pulling off a series of fantastic saves. Darlington once drew level and showed how good their forwards (36 goals scored) and pressurised the weary Billingham Town.
