John Hall of Crowtrees entertained Norman Kirkley of Bishop Auckland and never really got into the game. Kirkley steadily built up a lead by scoring on almost every visit to the table and eventually killed off the game with a decisive 20 break to go out as the winner by 70 points.

Norman Lowson of Hunwick entertained Arnold Fleming of Crook Belle Vue in what proved to be a very tight contest. The players were always within easy striking distance of each other as neither ever got any luck with the run of the balls. Fleming's slight early lead was steadily overhauled until Lowson edged ahead and managed to hold on to win by a mere 11 points.

John Bate of Hunwick slipped behind in the early stages of his game against Hall, who was showing much improved form from the match against Kirkley. However a late regular scoring sequence from Bate took him through as the 23 points winner.

Games to be played next Thursday: Lawrence Jones v John Bate; Ken Robinson v Norman Lowson; Arnold Fleming v Tow Ward; Lawrence Jones v Norman Kirkley.
