RISING stars from Stockton Sixth Form's rugby team will be scrummaging in style at home and away matches, thanks to the generosity of a Tees Valley firm.

The players have been presented with a black and white kit by sponsors, car dealers SG Petch, and they will be wearing their new kit with pride at both local and national matches.

Last season the team made it to the finals of the British Colleges Rugby Cup. This term they achieved first place in the British Colleges North-East Division Sevens Rugby Tournament.

Yesterday the team played Harrogate Army College at Stockton Rugby Club's ground and they were presented with the Sevens trophy by Simon Rees, finance director and company secretary for SG Petch.

Peter Lincoln, Stockton Sixth Form vice principal, said: "The team has been extremely successful locally and nationally this year and thanks to SG Petch they can step out confidently on the pitch looking very smart.

"The players are, after all, flying the flag for their town and the wider area.
