Tow Law New Market A did their B team a favour when they won at Tow Law Station by the odd point. This reversal for the Station has moved them six points behind the New Market B, who are three ahead of the second-placed, Tow Law Football Club. The Station started the match in good style with wins from Eddie Smith and Michael Bell. However, Bill Goodall and Goff Bramfitt levelled the scores with John Hodgen winning the decider for the New Market when he beat Malcolm Umpelby. Second-placed Tow Law Football Club went two down at Tow Law Black Horse A as Tom Dowson and Phil Hall both won. However, Arthur Henderson and Isaac Slack equalised with Les Hind taking the footballers to victory by beating Anthony Hird.

Willington League

The Prospect Club moved back to the top of the table after winning by two points at Hunwick Quarry Burn. The new leaders trailed after the singles when the home side had wins from Bob Johnson, Alan Bolam and Keith Dufton with only Phil Blyth and Wilf Sharpe replying.

However, the Prospect took over from that point with doubles wins from Wilf Sharpe with Tommy McAloon junior and Phil Blyth with Tommy McAloon senior. The victory was capped when David Leighton beat the home side's Keith Dufton in the captain's game. This result pushed the Prospect one point ahead of the Willington Club, who are three ahead of Willington Black Horse Tavern, who have a match in hand.

In the top-of-the-table clash the visiting Sunniside Moss Inn were able to close the gap on the leaders, Newhouse Club after winning by three points. The singles were shared with Alan Todd, John Gilchrist and Keith Liddle winning for the home side and Frank Jobling, John Howe and Lol Cullinan replying. However from that point the Moss took over to win all three doubles and move seven points behind Newhouse Club with a match in hand. Esh Football Club are in third place, two points behind the Moss.
