RITCHIE Humphreys' reunion with Gordon Watson is proving a happy one.

Watson has bagged four goals this week after being reunited with Humphreys in the Hartlepool United front line.

And even though Humphreys has yet to hit the target since his summer move from Cambridge, he refuses to let it get him down.

The pair first met at Sheffield Wednesday, Humphreys was then a trainee and Watson the £250,000 signing from Charlton, and their partnership at Hartlepool on Saturday looks a promising one.

Both players have the touch and movement that earned then top-flight appearances and goals and Humphreys has enjoyed two of his best performances of the season alonside Watson this week.

"Iwas a YT when he was there and I've kept in touch with him,'' said Humphreys.

"We always used to see each other when we were playing for other clubs.

"He's an excellent player and his goal was a great finish. It takes some class to do something out of the ordinary like that.

"I'm back up there in the foward line which is nice, but to be honest I don't mind where Iplay as long as I'm in the team.''

Watson's goals have earned six points this week for Pool to lift them off the foot of the table and Humphreys admitted:"Pscyologically it has given us a lift to move off the bottom and it's give us a little confidence lift.

"But we knew that the results would come because our performances have been good.

"I haven't scored yet, but I'm not letting it get me down.

"Iwas about to score against Hull and got shoved over in front of goal and then Micky Barron scored, but that sums up my luck this season.

"But I don't worry about it, Iknow it will come.

"We've got six points this week and even though we didn't play very well against Exeter, we still won.

"We had a bit of luck at times and defended well, but even when it was 1-0 we kept going and didn't back off.

"Maybe it was a bit nervy when it was 1-0, but the second goal got us there.''
