A YOUNG woman has been bed-bound after thieves took her special wheelchair.

Lynne Nesbitt, 24, suffers from a rare brain infection that results in her being completely dependant on medical care at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

Her large adapted wheelchair, her only means of getting around, was taken from outside the ward at the weekend.

Shortly after 8pm on Saturday, a man was seen removing components from the chair.

Soon afterwards he was seen in the chair being pushed out by a woman

The man was in his early 20s, with ginger or fair short hair and wore a white T-shirt and dark jacket.

The woman was of a similar age with long dark hair and a light coloured coat.
