A CHARITY for homeless people in east Cleveland is asking people to open up their homes for a couple of nights.
Nightstop is a charity based in Redcar, but covers the whole of the east Cleveland area, as well as Middlesbrough, Stockton and Billingham.
It aims to help young people who are homeless by providing them with short-term emergency accommodation in the homes of volunteer hosts.
Ruth Manuel, project coordinator for Nightstop, said: "Now the colder weather is here we are receiving more and more requests for help.
"Unfortunately we can't always meet this need and have had to turn people away, although we do our best to help them find a hostel or bed and breakfast.
"We desperately need more people who care about the situation who are willing to open up their homes for one or two nights a week."
