football pundit Trevor Brooking presented a North-East university with an award for the work its sports volunteers do in the community.
The Sports England award of £3,000 was presented to Northumbria University's head of recreation, Sue Vont, in London. The Newcastle university has more than 200 volunteers involved in a range of activities, from coaching at youth clubs to coordinating sports clubs and community events. The award recognises the way the university recruits, retains and manages its volunteers
