A blaze that ripped through a North-East pub has been blamed on arsonists.
The fire, which caused extensive damage to the Sporting Arms in Denton Road, Denton in Newcastle, took hold in the early hours of this morning.
When the fire started at around 2am, the pub was empty at the time.
Police are treating the blaze as suspicious and are appealing for anyone with information, or who may have seen anything suspicious, to contact Newcastle West CID on 0191 454 7555.
