A man has been seriously injured after being struck by a car on Teesside. The 32-year-old unnamed Guisborough man sustained a fractured pelvis and knee cap when he was knocked over by a Vauxhall Corsa.
A spokesman for Cleveland Police said: "At this time it is believed the driver's attention was drawn to a dog at the side of the road immediately prior to colliding with the pedestrian in the carriageway."
The accident happened on the old A171 Whitby Road, approximately 250 metres from its junction with Gisborough Hall.
Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses to Wednesday's accident, to contact them on (01642) 301558.
