EXTRA cars will be able to park at the Netto store in Northallerton, planners have agreed.
The Brompton Road store has been given approval to increase the number of car park spaces from 39 to 49 by redeveloping a former forecourt and petrol station which has been closed for 12 months.
Planning officers told Hambleton development control committee that the scheme would improve the appearance of an area at present regarded as an eyesore.
But Councillor John Prest, supported by Coun Jack Dobson, warned that the development would make the traffic situation worse at a point where cars entering the site were already causing gridlock.
