NORTHUMBRIA Police have put the safety and enjoyment of football fans at the top of their list of priorities for the three FA cup ties being played the same day.
The force has asked Sunderland to kick off their match against West Brom-wich Albion at 12.30pm on January 5 - to which the club agreed.
Newcastle United's match against Crystal Palace will start at 3pm, while Berwick Rangers' game against Glasgow Rangers kicks off at 5.30pm.
A police spokesman said the arrangements will allow the police to provide their full support and deployment of specialist resources, which are required by law for the health and safety of all those attending matches.
Assistant Chief Constable John Scott said: "We would ask all fans to make their travel arrangements accordingly, enjoy the day and behave reasonably and responsibly."
