Tow Law Scottish and

Newcastle Cup

Lanchester King's Head were taken to the deciding pool doubles before they edged through to victory at Esh Football Club. The pool singles were shared when John McCormick, Colin Neil and Simon Slater won for the home side and Davy Wales, Dave Brown and Harry Wales equalised. The dominoes followed a similar pattern as Linda Hughes, Colin Neil and Keith Brown took points for the home side with Dave Brown, Graeme Thompson and Rob Day levelling.

Graeme Thompson and Rob Day took the first pool doubles but then John McCormick and Keith Brown levelled the match again, sending it to the deciding doubles. In this frame the King's head went to victory when Mark Brown and Davy Wales beat Simon Slater and Colin Neil.

In the other match played there was a similar result with Hamilton Row Black Horse just pipping the ladies team from Tow Law Black Horse B. The home side only had Heather Laing as a pool singles winner with their guests shooting ahead with wins from Richie Routledge, Colin Metcalfe, Barry Sims, Steve Wilkie and John Henderson. However the home side almost levelled things at dominoes when Angela Armstrong, Faff Suddes and Emma Jefferson and Sylvia Goodall won with replies from John Henderson and Barry Sims. The visitors edged through to their victory at the pool doubles when Chris Ellis and Colin Metcalfe beat Angela Armstrong and Heather Laing.

Tow Law Bass Cup

The Final of the competition will be between Hamilton Row Black Horse and Tow Law New Market A after both came through the semi finlas successfully but in very different manners. Esh Football Club entertained Hamilton Row Black Horse and only managed to take one darts singles when Paul Mickle won. The Horse had wins from Alan Brown, Dave Brown, Steve Wilkie, Mark Kennedy and John Henderson. The dominoes singles were shared with Ray Lugsden, Colin Neil and Keith brown winning for the footballers with Colin Metcalfe, Barry Sims and Paul Elliott replying.

Esh Football Club moved into an 8-7 lead after they took all three dominoes doubles and the first darts doubles. However Mark Kennedy and David Brown levelled the match in the second darts doubles with the Horse going to victory when Paul Elliott and Alan Brown beat Colin Neil and Ray Lugsden in the deciding darts doubles.

The match which was expected to go all the way to a decider fell way short of expectations when Tow Law New Market A had a very comfortable victory at Esh Stag's Head. The home side only managed to take two points from the nine on offer at darts when Alan Maughan and Tom March won their singles. The visiting singles points came from Colin Perry, Darren Yeoman, John Parkin and Colin Howcroft, together with all three doubles.

The home side only managed to improve on their darts score by a single point in the dominoes section, where they had singles wins from Brenda March, Tom March and Matty Walker, whilst the visitors coasted through with singles wins from John Graham, Darren Yeoman and Colin Perry to add to their doubles points.

The Final will be played on Monday, February 4.
