McStea, who was signed by Brandon from Middlesbrough this year, has just finished a trial at Wolves but picked up a hamstring injury in the process.

However, the First Division giants are pressing ahead with the signing.

Brandon boss Kenny Lindoe said: "The coaching staff at Wolves have been very impressed by him but the manager, David Jones, hasn't seen enough yet.

"We must show plenty of spirit, like we have done in some of our previous games, and start winning."

Seaham are boosted by the return of striker Lee Adamson after a spell at Spennymoor, while defenders Darren Griffiths and Andy Davies both return.

League leaders Bedlington will be looking for maximum points at home to Ashington.

Striker John Milner has recovered from a slight ankle injury and is fit enough to join a full-strength squad.

Second placed Whitley Bay also have a full squad for their away game at Morpeth. Whitley have submitted seven days notice of approach for Gateshead striker Steve Preen, but his Northern League registration is held by Tow Law, who meet Consett and will be at full strength.

Marske United include new signing, striker Dave Connor from Billingham Synthonia, in their side at home to Peterlee, who give midfielder Anthony Jewson a fitness test, and a debut to new signing Bobby Cooper from Murton

In the second division, leaders Shildon can extend their four-point lead at the top if they beat second-placed Prudhoe. Manager Ray Gowan expects to field a full-strength side, with first-choice keeper David Lanning returning after injury.

Esh Winning, who are fourth, can do their hopes a power of good if they defeat Easington, who are one place below them.

l Swansea City chairman Tony Petty claims he has not been able to pay his players because of the recent legal action taken against the club.

Former Swans director Mel Nurse went to court in a bid to have an administration order placed on the club to force the removal of Petty as owner and chairman.

Nurse claimed to have acquired the club's £801,000 debt to former owners and has demanded immediate repayment from Swansea.

The club were ordered to pay a £100,000 bond to the court, plus £55,000 legal costs, and Petty says that has left him with no funds with which to pay his playing staff and that he has had to apply for a loan from the Professional Footballers Association.
