A LOST toy has spent a lonely Christmas in a railway station after being left on a train.
The cuddly skunk was found under a seat in the carriage of a train travelling from Kings Cross to Newcastle on December 14.
It was dropped by a family of three, a man and two children, who got off the train at Darlington station around midday.
It is thought the family, who had been on seats 47 and 48 in coach B of the train, were met by grandparents at the station.
A couple travelling in the same carriage as the family rescued the skunk and posted it from their Norwich home back to Darlington station.
The little black and white skunk, wearing a Robin Hood style hat, is still at the station where he has been waiting to be reclaimed.
The owner of the skunk can contact The Northern Echo on (01325) 505071.
