A FORMER colliery worker and his wife celebrated 60 years of marriage yesterday with family and friends.
Joe Curry, 86, and his wife, Amy, 83, were married at St Aidan's Church, Chilton, on January 3, 1942.
They held an open house party at their Ferryhill home to celebrate their anniversary.
Mr Curry was born in Ferryhill and worked as foreman fitter at the Dean and Chapter and Mainsforth collieries. He later went on to work as a fitter at Courtaulds, in Spennymoor.
