A CHILDREN'S charity is appealing for help in its North-East shops.
Barnardo's is asking people living in Durham, Darlington and Derwentside to make a New Year's resolution to volunteer for a few hours each week.
Proceeds from the shops contribute towards the £10m a year needed to keep the charity's 40 North-East services up and running.
In the Durham area, these services include Shared Care North-East, which gives children with learning disabilities time away from their families to make new friends and have new experiences.
Darlington Inclusion provides services for disabled children and their families, and Derwentside Young Carers, in Stanley, works with young people who care for sick or disabled relatives.
Shop volunteers are required to operate tills, decorate windows, advise on books, bric-a-brac, antiques, old records and glass, and help out in storerooms.
