PENSIONERS invited to a council tea dance will not be the only ones told to shake a leg next week.
Over-65s invited to a tea dance by Chester-le-Street District Council will have the chance to tell officers how to improve services for elderly people.
The event, to be held at Durham County Cricket Club on Tuesday, runs from 3pm until 5pm.
Peter Wright, who is leading the council's review into older people's services, said: "We wanted to find an appealing way of encouraging older people to help us make some New Year's resolutions, so we can provide better services for them.
"This gives people the opportunity to join in the dancing, enjoy the company, and have their say about our services."
Anyone over 65 can attend the dance, but places are limited, so it it important to register as soon as possible by calling the council's careline office on 0191-388 7588. Transport can be arranged, if required
