WORK by leading playwriters Willy Russell, Henrik Ibsen and John Steinbeck will feature at York Theatre Royal in coming months.

Of Mice And Men, adapted from Steinbeck's classic novel, will be at the theatre from February 26 to March 16.

The co-production, with the Octagon Theatre, in Bolton, Lancashire, tells the story of two migrant workers in small town America.

That play is followed by award-winning English Touring Theatre's first Yorkshire visit, with Ibsen's Ghosts between March 19 and 23.

Hold Tight, It's Sixties Night, from March 25 to 30, offers a whirlwind musical tour of the era.

The theatre's production team aims to build on the success of The Studio's first season with Willy Russell's comedy Educating Rita, from February 14 to March 9, about the relationship between a hairdresser and her Open University lecturer.

York company Actors of Dionysus present an adaptation of the Greek classic Trojan Women, between March 12 and 16.

The Studio will also welcome four of the region's youth theatre groups performing four plays in four nights as part of the National Theatre's International Connections between March 20 and 23.

"The spring season sees the beginning of new and exciting creative partnerships," said artistic director Damian Cruden.
