ADVENTUROUS friends hope to raise sponsorship for charity trips abroad.

Rebecca Armstrong and Jennifer Jones, both 17 and from Durham City, are planning trips with Project Trust to Thailand and South Africa respectively.

Rebecca will teach children and help at a hospital. Jennifer will work at an orphanage with babies whose parents have died of Aids.

They will set off in August, and spend a year away, but, they must each raise £3,550 in sponsorship.

Rebecca, who is studying A-levels at Durham Johnston School, said: "Project Trust manages to raise £500 towards the cost of each volunteer. The remaining £3,550 is up to me."

Jennifer, an A-level student at St Leonard's School, said: "I also have to raise sponsorship, and would be very grateful for any help."

To help, contact Rebecca on 0191-386 2089 or Jennifer on 0191-384 4652.

"I hope to broaden my experience and understanding while contributing to the Thai community in which I will be living and working.
