A Market town pub has been told it cannot stay open until the early hours because of problems it would cause for nearby residents.
Bar 44 bar and restaurant, in Westgate, Guisborough, applied to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council more than a year ago for permission to stay open until 1am from Thursdays to Saturdays.
When permission was refused it appealed and a trial run of late opening was allowed.
A renewed application has now been turned down.
andThe bar applied for permission over a year ago and was told it would not be granted the relevant licences because of fears by the police and local people that it would lead to an extension of anti-social, rowdy and drunken behaviour currently experienced in the town on a weekend, which causes problems for people who live in the Westgate area.
But the pub appealed and a trial run of later opening was allowed. But because other criteria could not be met, the approval was not implemented.
