AN initiative has been launched to push home the safety message to adults living throughout the Hambleton district.

A Home Safety Roadshow is taking to the road and its first port of call, next Friday, will be Easingwold.

The roadshow brings together a variety of agencies, including the police, fire service, the health service, Citizens' Advice Bureau, and Broadacres Housing Association among others. Under the umbrella of the Hambleton Community Safety Partnership, it aims to deliver essential safety messages.

"For the last ten years our Crucial Crew exercise has been giving safety advice to schoolchildren across the district," said Partnership Officer Kevin Hardisty yesterday.

"More than 2,000 children have benefited from Crucial Crew but until now adults have missed out. This roadshow is for them and will deal with all aspects of home safety - from dealing with chip pan fires and bogus callers to avoiding slips, trips and falls."

Help on home security will be available and people will be able to talk to Partnership members.

The show will start at the Galtres Centre in Easingwold, on Friday, from 10am to noon, and will tour throughout the district during the next year.
