AN opportunity to hear one of the major organ works of the 20th Century is being offered by a cathedral.
On Saturday, January 12, at 7.30pm in Durham Cathedral, organist James Lancelot will perform the whole of Olivier Messiaen's great organ cycle La Nativite du Seigneur - a series of nine meditations on the birth of Christ.
Composed in the 1930s, the cycle depicts scenes and concepts of the Incarnation, and remains one of the most accessible of Messiaen's works.
Mr Lancelot is established as one of Britain's leading organists, regularly performing in America and Europe as well as at home.
Admission will be by programme at the door
