A WEATHER vane that normally stands at the highest point of a shopping centre has been removed for maintenance.
For the past three years, since the opening of the Prince Bishop's shopping centre, in Durham City, the ornament has stood at its summit.
But the ravages of the elements have taken their toll on it, making it lose its glossy appearance and loosening its bolts.
Jill Dodds, administrator for the centre, said she hopes it can be restored to its rightful place as soon as possible.
She said: "It's getting a polish and a paint, and we are using the opportunity to replace the bearings."
