POLICE are urging Bishop Auckland residents to keep their doors locked after a spate of burglaries in the Cockton Hill area.
Thieves have been entering homes through unlocked back doors during the early evening, while the occupants were watching television or busy in another room.
In most cases they got away with a number of small items such as handbags, cash or mobile phones.
