Teen worker appointed

Darlington Primary Care Group has appointed a new co-ordinator for the Tackling Teenage Pregnancy programme. Donna Thorne will take up the post in February. She previously worked in a similar role for Wakefield Primary Care Group.

lights DELAY: Traffic lights will be in operation at off-peak times on the A167 at Coatham Mundeville, near Darlington, tomorrow, to allow Darlington Borough Council to carry out road maintenance work.

MOTHERS' MEETING: The annual meeting of the St Cuthbert's Church Mothers' Union will be on Thursday, January 31, at 2pm in the Lady Starmer Room.

LADIES FELLOWSHIP: The next meeting of the All Saints and Salutation Ladies Fellowship, in Blackwell, Darlington, will be at the Millennium Centre at 7.30pm on Tuesday, January 22. The speaker will be Peter Howe, who will talk about his coast-to-coast bike ride. It is an open evening, so friends are welcome. Admission is 50p including raffle and refreshments.

EXAMINATION RESULTS: Pupils of Terence Lawson, School Aycliffe, have been successful in the recent Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examinations. Stephanie Driscoll gained a Grade 1 with merit, for singing, and Stuart Shields gained a Grade 5 on the piano.

COFFEE MORNING: Saturday coffee mornings at St Clare's Church, Newton Aycliffe, have restarted. They run from 10am to 11.30am. Entry costs 50p. All proceeds go to church funds.

ENERGY CLINIC: Sedgefield Borough Council is holding an energy clinic in Spennymoor Community Learning Centre, Festival Walk, on Tuesday, January 29. Anyone wanting advice on energy efficiency can call in and will receive a free energy-efficient light bulb.

FORUM MEETING: Sedgefield Borough Council's Shildon area forum takes place in Shildon Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Middridge Lane, this evening at 6.30pm.

JUNCTION WORKS: Due to improvement works on the A66 Sadberge junction, delays are expected up until May. Darlington Road, Middleton Road, Hillhouse Lane, Norton Road, Stockton Road and Bishopton Lane will all be affected.
