WALKERS can hike off their Christmas excesses on Saturday with Hartlepool Borough Council's countryside officer.
Chris Scaife is leading a nine-mile walk around Hartlepool, taking in five villages.
Walkers should meet at the entrance of the Hart to Haswell walkway on Ocean Road at 10am, and the walk will finish in Greatham at about 3pm. Return to Ocean Road will be via public transport.
There is no need to book and the walk is free.
Mr Scaife said: "This is a chance for people to stretch their legs and enjoy some beautiful countryside on the western fringe of Hartlepool.
"There is a tremendous network of public footpaths which link Hartlepool to surrounding villages and we will take in many of these during the walk."
Walkers are asked to take a packed lunch and are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear.
For more information on the walk and bus times, ring Mr Scaife at Hartlepool council, on (01429) 523419.
