THE hunt is on to find the UK's most environmentally-friendly youngsters.

The competition has been organised by wildlife trusts, including Tees Valley, as well as Severn Trent Water and BBC Wildlife Magazine.

The winner will be awarded the title of Young Environment Champion of the Year and a cash prize of £2,500.

Steve Ashton, from the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust, said: "There are young people out there who do some fantastic things to help improve our environment and we want to know who they are and exactly what they are doing."

Entry forms can be obtained by logging on to the website at stwater.co.uk, or sending a self-addressed envelope to Young Environmental Champion of the Year, The Wildlife Trusts, The Kiln, Waterside, Mather Road, Newark, NG24 1WT .

The closing date is February 28
