POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a road accident in Darlington which left an elderly woman in hospital.
The 76-year-old, who lives in the town, was hit by a Rover 214 outside the fire station in St Cuthbert's Way, shortly before 1.30pm on Saturday.
She suffered injuries including broken ankles and a possible neck fracture and was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital.
Her condition was described as comfortable last night.
The driver of the car, a 32-year-old Stockton man, was unhurt.
Witnesses are asked to call the accident investigation unit on 0191-386 4929.
