actors are preparing to stage the first amateur production at a new North-East theatre.
Me and My Girl, being performed by Durham Amateur Operatic Society, will be the first musical to grace the city's new Gala Theatre, from February 12 to 16.
A cast of almost 80 is being put through its paces by producer Fred Wharton, musical director George Hetherington and choreographers Janet Dixon and Kathleen Knox.
The actors will perform a modern version of the show, rewritten by Stephen Fry, which enjoyed successful runs in the West End and Broadway.
Tickets, which are quickly selling out, are available from the booking secretary, on 0191-386 2242, or the box office, on 0191-383 0100
